Who We Are
-
The Plastics Environmental Council (PEC) is a broad consortium
of large, medium and small businesses, independent scientists and
academics, engineers, landfill and compost operators, and environmental
groups who input and support the PEC’s and its member companies’
sustainability programs and agendas.
-
The PEC was established on October 25th, 2010 to be an
independent, non-profit action group with a broad mandate to unify and
help consumers, corporations and legislators – as well as anyone in the
plastics industry focusing on biodegradability – to make good, effective
earth-friendly decisions involving plastics biodegradability and other
plastics end-of-life environmental considerations.
-
The PEC will establish a
certified, endorsed environmental rating mark for manufacturers’
products so as to identify and present products, companies and
clearly substantiated marketing claims that the consumer can
unequivocally trust.
-
In
addition, the Council will continuously monitor ongoing developments in
environmental legislation and regulations, and stands ready to provide
its partners with consultation, representation and support as needed,
always with full scientific
support and documentation to back up all claims, thus ensuring
compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
